Methodology Versions
The People's Top Songs chart runs on a published, versioned methodology — weight is earned by doing things that help artists, and every rule of it is published before it counts. This page is the permanent record: every version of the methodology whitepaper is listed here, newest first.
| Version | Status | Published | Summary | Whitepaper |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| v1.0 (Public Scoring Methodology) | Current | July 2026 | The full People's Top Songs scoring specification: 10-to-1 ranked ballots, the Superfan activation switch, square-root Fan Score, 30-day-vesting Verified Follower Units, 7-day-vesting Playlist Proof Units, integrity eligibility, and payment separation (BANDS never enters the score). | Read the whitepaper |
How versioning works
When the formula changes, the new version is published on this page before it takes effect on the live chart. Older versions stay available here permanently, so any historical chart can be read against the exact rules that produced it.
Live methodology
The current version is also maintained as living documentation:
- Top Songs — Public Scoring Methodology (v1.0) — the full whitepaper: how each vote is scored, amplified, and protected
- Proof of Music Fandom — how verified fan actions become a Fandom Score
